Beard Implant
Beard Transplant

Beard implanting is a treatment for those who have lost their beard or for whom it never grew in. Just as with hair on the head, the appearance of a healthy beard is an important part of the masculine identity for many people.

Facial hair transplantation replaces hair on areas of the face that are either missing hair or are very sparse in density. It is common to see individuals who are unable to grow a complete goatee or mustache. For many individuals, it is impossible to grow a full beard without looking “patchy”.

Those who have lost their beards due to hormonal changes or who have a deficiency or irregular appearance in a certain area are well suited for this procedure. You can get the bearded look you want by having the beard extraction operation.

How does the bard grow?
Whether FUT or FUE is utilized for the transplant process. Hair follicles from the back and sides of the scalp are transplanted to the desired facial areas. As with transplanting to the scalp, the donor grafts will continue to grow on the patient's facial area for rest of the patient's life. Once transplanted, the hair may initially grow with the same texture from the harvested donor region, but in time the hair transforms to match the characteristics of the recipient region. The transplanted facial hair can be trimmed or shaved and will re-grow whenever the individual wants a change in his/her appearance and grow a beard.

How Does it Work?
For some people, they never had enough facial hair due to genetics, whereas others lost facial hair due to trauma, scarring, or surgery. Whether the patient wants to thicken the sideburns, cheeks, goatee, or mustache, facial hair restoration can help achieve desired cosmetic results.

EXAMINATION BEFORE
THE HAIR TRANSPLANT

Anyone can be a candidate for hair transplantation. Factors such as gender, skin color, or hair type do not affect your candidacy, though they can affect the relative degree of success in results. For example, patients with thick and wavy hair will get a more dense look after the hair transplant procedure relative to those with thin and straight hair. We consider donor volume of 60-100 FU/cm2 as an excellent candidate and patients with 40 FU/cm2 or below donor volume as a promising candidate. During the physical exam consultation, our medical team analyzes your hair type (straight, wavy, or curly), hair thickness (thick or thin) and the donor area with densitometer (FU/cm2). Additionally, we run tests to identify the baldness level (Norwood for men, Ludwig for women). Dermatoscopy is used by our medical team to foresee the future of the hair loss.
