Sedated Hair Transplant
Hair transplantation operations are mostly performed with local anesthesia. Before the operation, the area of the operation zone is numbed, minimizing any discomfort that may be felt. In some cases, tranquillisation can be applied prior to local anesthesia.
Sedated hair transplant is the preferred method for patients who:
– Have a fear of needles
– Have intense fear of operation
– Experience mild to severe anxiety
– Have an extremely sensitive pain tolerance
Short-term (10-15 min) sedation is applied before local anesthesia to be performed for hair transplant operation.
Hair transplantation is a procedure commonly performed with local anesthesia. Pain that occurs during local anesthetic application and long term sleeping patients are the most common complaints.
Sedatives can be used to eliminate discomfort during the procedure, and minimize any negative side effects after. A combination of analgesic (pain reliever) and sedative (relaxing) medication is administered intravenously by an anesthesiologist. The patient is then taken to the treatment room where the anesthesiologist will administer the sedative.
The patient experiences is a slight feeling of drowsiness and relaxation, eliminating the unpleasant effects of the local anesthesia at the beginning of the operation.
